Adding 3D to React usually means importing heavy WebGL wrappers like Three.js. uvte-3d challenges this by rendering stunning, interactive 3D geometries (spheres, mobius strips, tori) using pure math and SVG projections. No canvas. No WebGL. Just raw trigonometric functions running natively in the browser. The result is a radically lightweight, 60fps 3D aesthetic perfect for AI thinking states and modern UI designs.

Top comment

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm super excited to share uvte-3d today. I love the aesthetic of 3D wireframe animations (especially for modern "AI thinking" UI states), but I hated having to bundle massive WebGL frameworks like Three.js into my React apps just to render a spinning globe or a mobius strip. So, I built uvte-3d. It says "f*ck WebGL" and bypasses the entirely. Instead, it calculates 3D coordinates using raw trigonometry and orthographically projects them directly onto a standard 2D . Because there is zero WebGL context overhead, it's incredibly lightweight, completely reactive, and runs effortlessly at 60fps. There's an interactive Playground on the site where you can tweak the math, shapes, and colors live in the browser. I'd love to hear what you think of this approach! The entire project is completely open-source, so feel free to poke around the math engine on GitHub.

Comment highlights

Honestly the whole no-WebGL angle is really cool, but one thing that would take it further is letting devs pass in custom shaders or color gradients for each shape, kind of like defining a small config object. Right now the presets are nice but a bit limiting if you want it to match a specific brand palette in a real product UI.
