Hey Product Hunt, Louis here, maker of Trova. I built Trova because of one specific moment: getting home at 7pm, opening a full fridge, and having no idea what to actually make with it. I would end up ordering takeaway while perfectly good food went off in the drawer. So Trova starts from your pantry, not from a recipe feed. You tell it what you have, and it shows you what you can cook right now, prioritising ingredients that are about to expire. A few things I am proud of: - "What can I cook?" matches your actual ingredients to real recipes in one tap - Import any recipe from a website, TikTok, Instagram, or even a photo of a card - Plan your week from your pantry, with a shopping list for only the gaps - Optional nutrition tracking that syncs to Apple Health It is free on iOS. I would genuinely love your honest feedback, the good and the bad. What would make you actually use this on a Tuesday night? Ask me anything.

Comment highlights

The idea of flagging expiring ingredients first is genuinely useful and not something I've seen done well elsewhere. One thing I'd love is a quick swap option when I'm missing a single ingredient, since I rarely have everything on hand and don't want to abandon a recipe over one missing spice.

Love that it nudges me toward whatever's about to go bad, my grocery bill has already taken a hit. Importing a TikTok recipe from a screenshot actually worked, which I was not expecting.

Finally an app that actually uses up the sad celery in my crisper drawer before it turns to mush. The recipe import from TikTok is clutch.

Been wanting something like this for ages. One thing that would make it perfect for me is a quick "use it up" mode where I just dump in three random leftovers and get one realistic suggestion instead of a giant list. Right now most recipe apps overwhelm me when I'm already tired.

Trova was hunted by Louis van Wyk. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
