When I prepared for my District International Speech Contest, I changed how I practiced. Instead of repeating my text over and over, I focused on short, 2-minute reps, daily for 2 months.
It was incredible. Rep after rep, I stopped memorizing sentences and started thinking in structure. So even if I forgot a word or a line on stage, I knew where I was going next.
Each rep was also a chance to try something new: a gesture, a pause, a shift in pace or tone. That's what built my confidence.
