SupoClip turns long videos into vertical, captioned shorts. Paste a YouTube link or upload a file: AI transcribes it, picks the strongest 15–60s moments and scores each for virality, then crops 9:16 around the speaker and burns in word-synced captions and a hook title. Trim, split, merge and export for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. No watermarks. Open source (AGPL-3.0): self-host it free, or use the web app, iPhone app, REST API or MCP server.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Sami, and I built SupoClip.
AI clipping tools are genuinely good, but your usage is metered by plan, some exports carry the platform's branding, and your content and workflow live on someone else's servers. I wanted the same pipeline without that, so I built it in the open.
What it does: give it a long video (a YouTube link or a file) and it
• transcribes it with word-level timestamps
• has an LLM pick the strongest 15–60 second moments and score each one for hook, engagement, value and shareability
• crops to 9:16 around the speaker's face, with split screens for wide shots
• burns in word-synced animated captions and an AI-written hook title
• optionally adds B-roll, then lets you trim, split or merge and export for TikTok, Reels or Shorts
Ways to use it:
🌐 Hosted at supoclip.com, with nothing to set up
📱 iPhone app on the App Store
🐳 Self-host with docker-compose (AGPL-3.0, free, no monthly limits, works with Gemini, GPT, Claude or a local Ollama model)
🤖 REST API + MCP server, so Claude, Cursor and other agents can clip videos for you
Nothing gets a watermark, on any plan.
1,300+ people have starred it on GitHub so far. I'd love to hear what you'd clip with it and what's missing. I'll be here answering questions all day.
When making shorts from a long videos can we choose what kind of moments we want or does the Ai pick them based on its own scoring?
Btw Congrats on the launch Sami.
Keeping trim, split and merge in the workflow matters even after AI has picked the clips. Good to see the final cut stays in the person's hands.
