I kept tabbing away from a show to reply to a message, then turning back to find I'd missed the whole scene. Rewinding every time got old fast.
So I built the thing I wanted: switch away, it pauses. Come back, it resumes. That's it.
The part that took the most fiddling was making sure it never fights you — if you pause on purpose, it leaves it alone. It also ignores the little
autoplay preview clips and only touches what you're actually watching.
It's free and open source. Would love feedback on what streaming service to add next.
Finally someone fixed the obvious annoyance of auto-pausers un-pausing your intentional pauses. Works great with my Mac and Spaces, and the open source / no servers thing is a nice touch.
that "only resume what it paused itself" detail is genuinely clever, solves the exact frustration of coming back to a show that started playing after you deliberately stopped it
Love the smart "only resume its own pauses" logic, that fixes the biggest annoyance with other tools. One thing that would make it perfect: a brief on-screen toast or sound when the pause/resume kicks in, so you can tell at a glance whether it's working without having to alt-tab back to check.
