I built RunInvoice to solve my own problem: I was manually creating invoices over and over for clients, and every option I looked at was just not right for me. The free invoice generators out there only let you generate one invoice at a time — painful when you're billing multiple clients in a batch. And the full accounting software is way too much — I don't need books, reports, or a monthly subscription. I just wanted something simple that turns a spreadsheet into invoices.
So the idea was: what if the entire app ran as a single HTML file you could open offline, with your data never leaving your machine? No server, no subscription, no account required after you activate it once.
The workflow ended up simple by design: drop in an Excel file with your invoice line items (there's a template you can download), and it groups rows by invoice number, calculates due dates from credit terms (or you can just enter the due date), and spits out one PDF per invoice — nicely group in a ZIP if you're generating a batch.
You can try it free with 3 sample invoices, no signup needed. I'd really love to hear your feedback — what's missing, what's confusing, what would make this a tool you'd actually use daily!
Genuinely curious about the no subscription bit — does that mean a one-time purchase for the desktop app, or is there some kind of usage cap on the free version?
Finally tried this on a spreadsheet with 40 rows and it just spat out clean PDFs in seconds. Loving that it runs offline and stores company details so I'm not retyping them every time.
