Top comment

Hi everyone! 👋 I wanted ChatGPT to do more than summarize YouTube transcripts: actually examine video frames, investigate comments, interact with websites, and work with local media files. ResearchTube combines a Chrome extension running an MCP server with a local Python Agent powered by FFmpeg and yt-dlp. The project is completely free, open source, and MIT-licensed. There is no hosted backend or ResearchTube subscription. Current limitations: installation is manual, and connecting it to ChatGPT requires a compatible paid subscription and OpenAI Secure MCP Tunnel access. GitHub: https://github.com/ilinic/Resear...

Who hunted ResearchTube?

ResearchTube was hunted by Artem. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
