Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I am Michael, the developer behind Recontact.
We all add temporary numbers for plumbers, landlords, marketplace buyers, and dates every day. But the moment you hit save, background algorithms harvest your contacts. Suddenly, your landlord is viewing your personal WhatsApp status, and a one-off marketplace buyer pops up in your Facebook friend suggestions.
As an engineer, I wanted a clean, technically sound solution to plug this privacy leak without needing to buy a second phone or manage a dual-SIM setup.
I built Recontact to completely sandbox these specific contacts. It keeps them isolated from social media and data-harvesting apps, while still giving you reliable caller identification when they actually call you.
It is a single, paid upfront download. There are zero subscriptions, zero ads, and absolute data ownership.
I would love to hear your feedback and learn about the unique use cases you have for keeping your contacts private. Let me know what you think!
