Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm the developer of Overtitle. This started as a personal itch: I bought a show on the macOS Apple TV app and there was simply no subtitle track in the language I wanted. With DRM you can't mux in your own subtitles, browser extensions can't reach the native TV app, and nothing worked in full screen. Older "floating subtitle" tools made you start a timer and manually align the timeline — ten minutes and one pause later, everything had drifted. So I built Overtitle to read the *real* playback position instead of guessing. It's a separate floating window over the Apple TV app (including native full screen). It reads the actual playback position and fuses two clocks to stay locked: pause and it pauses, seek and it jumps within a heartbeat, and when the video buffers the subtitles wait instead of racing ahead. A few things on purpose: 🔒 Never touches DRM — no decryption, no capture, just a window holding well-timed cue cards. 📄 Your own .srt/.vtt files — it doesn't download or host subtitles. 💻 Local-first — files never leave your Mac; the only network call is a license check. 🌏 Bilingual cues for language learners; auto-picks the next episode by filename. macOS 13+ / Apple Silicon.
