I built Package Inspector because I was tired of digging through package-lock.json or running a dozen different npm commands just to answer simple questions like "what's actually installed here," "is anything outdated," or "why do I have two versions of this package."
It's a native Mac app (SwiftUI, no Electron — the whole thing is a few MB) that points at any npm/yarn/pnpm project and gives you:
Every installed package, correctly classified as a direct dependency, devDependency, or transitive one — including handling "diamond dependencies" (same package, two different resolved versions)
Known security vulnerabilities (via OSV.dev), matched to your exact installed version, with the specific version that fixes it
Deprecated package warnings, straight from the maintainer's own notice
Missing peer dependencies
A clickable dependency graph — what a package needs, and what depends on it
One-click copyable update commands in the right syntax for your package manager
CSV/JSON export for license/compliance reports
