Hey Product Hunt! 👋

I’m Max, an independent developer building apps for iOS and macOS.

When Apple announced its foldable iPhone Duo, I immediately started thinking about what I could build around that screen. What could you do if each half had its own role?

That question became LumaFold.

For makeup and everyday touch-ups, one half shows a live view from the front camera while the other lights your face, with adjustable brightness and color. You can also turn both halves into separate light panels, combine colors for creative lighting, or simply enjoy a flowing animation beside you.

I’m really happy to share it with you here. Building it has been a chance to explore a new device format through small, useful and playful experiences.

I’d love to hear what you think. What would you use it for?
What feels useful, and what could work better?
Your feedback will help me decide what to improve next.

Thanks for taking a look!

I'm from Japan and I feel like this concept would really click with people here. Love the design too.

As a fellow indie dev, nice to see an app that doesn't bother with analytics or tracking. 5.1 MB and "Data Not Collected" is how I like it.

Can one half work as a fill light while I record selfie video in the normal Camera app, or only inside LumaFold?

Using each half of the screen for a different job, mirror on one side and warm light on the other, is a small clever idea that makes a phone do what a ring light used to.

That's so cool – it reminds me of one app that a Copenhagen capsule hotel had. (CityHub) – you had a dashboard where you could change colours, and those colours were connected to the lights inside the capsule unit.
