I'm Steve, and I built Focal because I have ADHD and YouTube was quietly stealing hours from me and genuinely ruining my productivity.
Not in a dramatic way. In the quiet, creeping way where you sit down to learn something, click one video, and look up 90 minutes later having learned almost nothing. You know the feeling. You close the tab a little ashamed. You open a new one anyway.
That loop was my entire relationship with YouTube.
The problem isn't willpower. It's that there's no signal before you commit. You can't tell if a 47-minute video has 3 minutes of real value or 47. So you gamble. And with ADHD, a bad gamble doesn't just waste time — it derails your whole day.
