I built this because the first pass on interview footage is almost entirely mechanical — you're not making creative decisions yet, you're building an index of what was said and when. That's the part worth automating.
The constraint I set myself: never upload the video. The browser extracts only the audio track, so there's no waiting on a multi-gigabyte upload before you can start, and your footage stays on your machine — which turns out to matter a lot to people working on sensitive material.
It's a pre-editor, not an editor. It builds the assembly and hands off to your NLE.
