I built DropTunnel after getting frustrated with the friction of moving files and text between devices (particularly in small regular quantities on laptops with certain connection/software restrictions).
Most existing solutions require uploading files to a server, creating an account, generating a sharing link (and getting that to the other PC), or installing software. I wanted something that worked more like opening a temporary encrypted tunnel between two browsers so I can just 'Drop' the files or text into the 'Tunnel'.
One thing I'd love to see is a simple way to set an expiration timer on a tunnel, like auto-close after 10 minutes or after the transfer finishes. It would give an extra layer of reassurance for really sensitive stuff and make it feel even more disposable than relying on either side remembering to close it.
Love how frictionless this is, the no-account flow is genuinely refreshing. One thing that would make it even better for me: a small progress bar with estimated time remaining during the transfer, plus the option to pause and resume if the connection hiccups. Helps a lot when moving larger files across spotty networks.
