AirTypes is a desktop dictation app for macOS and Linux (Windows in development). Hold Ctrl+Shift+Space, speak, let go: the text is typed at your cursor in any app. Plain mode is free and runs Whisper offline on your own CPU. Polished mode sends the recording to AirTypes to transcribe it with a large model and clean it up with an AI, in the language you speak, paid from prepaid credit.

That is the whole idea behind AirTypes 0.3.0, which is out today for Mac and Linux.
Hold Ctrl + Shift + Space in any app, talk the way you actually talk, and let go. This:
"ok so um the meeting is moving to tomorrow at ten, client is not available, and uh send him the invoice again"
comes out as this, typed straight into the reply box:
"The meeting is moving to tomorrow at 10:00. The client is not available. Send him the invoice again."
That is real output. No copy and paste, and no plugin for each app.
There are two modes:
Plain is free and runs offline on your own computer. Your audio never leaves the machine.
Polished takes out the ums and false starts and fixes the grammar. It works in the language you speak, and it can translate to English on the way. Say it in Bangla, send it in English.
I also did not want to add another subscription to anyone's life. Polished runs on prepaid credit: $5 buys 999 minutes of speech, and a month you do not dictate costs nothing.
