TopBoards

Turn your audience into a market

TopBoards turns attention into a market. Create a board in minutes, bring your audience, and keep 50% of the net bids you generate. Businesses, products, or fans compete publicly for rank—the highest bid takes the top. Visitors, bids, rankings, and outbound clicks are public, so buyers can see exactly what the attention is worth. You bring the crowd. TopBoards runs the market.

Outbid launched with an almost stupidly simple idea: pay more than the person above you, move up. Within days it had 1M+ visitors, 200k+ outbound clicks, and roughly $200k+ on the board. Then 60+ copies appeared. That was the part that got me interested. The mechanism is easy to copy. **The audience isn't.** Outbid works particularly well because its audience is concentrated around founders and builders—and many of the businesses bidding are selling directly to those people. But plenty of creators, communities, newsletters, and niche sites already have valuable audiences without having a good way to turn that attention into a market. So I built TopBoards. Create a board, bring the crowd, and keep 50% of the net bids you generate. TopBoards handles the market, rankings, attribution, and payments. The thing I find most interesting is that the advertising itself becomes content. People watch the fight for #1, the attention makes #1 valuable, and the competition creates more attention. Maybe that mechanic generalizes beyond Outbid. Maybe it doesn't. TopBoards is my attempt to find out. Would love to see what kinds of boards people create.
