The story is simple. I wanted to give a contractor SSH access to my home NAS without opening ports on my router. I wanted to expose a self-hosted Jellyfin instance publicly without a static IP. I wanted my family's phones to back up photos to my own server, not Google or Apple. And when I started thinking about how teams at small companies handle the same access problems, I realized it scales — the building blocks are identical.
