Hey Product Hunt 👋

I built ROM Player because I wanted a retro gaming setup that just... worked. No downloading an emulator, no hunting for the right BIOS folder structure, no extension permissions — open a tab, drop in a ROM, play.

Under the hood it's built on EmulatorJS (libretro cores), wrapped in my own layer that handles the boot sequence, save states, and error handling so you get an actual error message instead of a silent black screen when something's misconfigured.

A few things I'm proud of:
- 20+ systems, from Atari 2600 to PS1 and PSP
- Fully offline-capable as a PWA — install it and it works with no connection
- Linkup Room — peer-to-peer sharing between users, no server involved
- Everything stays local — your ROMs and BIOS files never touch a server

It's free to use. There's an optional $3/mo premium tier for people who want cloud save sync and cross-device library sync — but the core experience (play, save states, rewind, ROM Exchange) is free for everyone.

Would love feedback — especially on which systems or features to prioritize next. Multiplayer/netplay is the big thing I'm scoping out right now.

Thanks for checking it out! 🎮
