I’m a student at the University of Michigan, and this past year I started experimenting with sneaker reselling, buying heat drops and flipping them on StockX, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace. One of the first pairs I sold on StockX was profitable on paper… but after fees, I actually lost money. That was frustrating, but what stuck with me more was this: even when you do make money, you’re not building anything. No brand, no returning buyers, no long-term value. At the same time, I’ve been working on my own niche sneaker brand, and I kept running into the same problem; no real way to build trust or connect directly with buyers, especially at higher price points.
