I'm Krishna, and I built Otter Vault because I kept losing API keys. I'd generate one in a dashboard, paste it into a .env or a random note, and a week later have no idea where it went, or worse, find it sitting in plain text somewhere it shouldn't be.
Otter Vault fixes that:
• Detects API keys the moment they show up in your browser and offers to save them
• Encrypts everything on your device (AES-256-GCM, PBKDF2 key derivation)
• No servers, no accounts, no sync. Your secrets never leave your machine
• Chrome extension + a macOS menu bar app so your keys are one click away while you code
I went local-first on purpose: a vault for API keys shouldn't need you to trust yet another cloud.
