Oi Amigo started from a very real, very awkward moment in my own life. I connected with someone in Brazil on a dating app, we hit it off, and when we tried to move our conversation off the app… we realised we couldn’t actually talk to each other without copy‑pasting everything into a translator.
I found myself constantly jumping between apps, asking AI to translate messages, and worrying that the meaning – or the feeling – was getting lost somewhere between English and Portuguese. It felt crazy that in 2026 it was still this hard to have a natural conversation with someone you genuinely want to know, just because you don’t share a language yet.
Oi Amigo is my attempt to fix that. I wanted a space where you can practise phrases with AI, then use those same words and structures in real conversations, with the app quietly helping in the background instead of you tabbing between chat and a translator. It’s for anyone who’s ever thought, “I wish I could actually talk to this person,” and decided that a language barrier shouldn’t be the end of the story.
