Karbonized
The programmable image editor your AI agent can use
Karbonized is a free, open-source image editor for developers and creators. Design code screenshots, app mockups and social posts with blocks, write your own HTML components whose CSS variables become panel controls, and turn any design into a template with {{variables}}. Save your brand kit once. Then let Agent, the built-in AI assistant, or any MCP client like Claude or Cursor build and export images for you, even with the window closed. Web, Windows, macOS and Linux.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Yoss, the maker of Karbonized.
It started as a simple tool to make pretty code screenshots. With 2.0 it became something I always wanted: an image editor you can program.
What makes it different:
🧩 HTML blocks – write a component in HTML/CSS, and its annotated CSS variables become controls in the panel. Package it as a .kcomponent and reuse it anywhere.
📝 Templates with {{variables}} – design once, then just change the title, code or date.
🎨 Brand kit – your colors, fonts and logos, available in every picker (and to the AI).
🤖 Agent – a built-in assistant (bring your own key: Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Ollama…) that designs block by block, so everything stays editable.
🔌 MCP server – Claude, Cursor or any MCP client can create and export images for you. It starts in the background when needed, no window required.
It's 100% free and open source, and runs on the web, Windows, macOS and Linux.
I'd love your honest feedback: what would you use it for, and what's missing? I'll be here all day answering questions 🙌
