Fottly
Self-hosted image API with AI background removal
Fottly is a self-hosted, open-source image transformation service with built-in AI background removal. Resize, convert, crop and watermark through simple URL parameters, on your own infrastructure.
I kept running into the same problem with image APIs: either you're locked into someone else's cloud (Cloudinary, imgix...) paying per transformation, or you're stuck writing your own Sharp pipeline from scratch every time you need resize/crop/format conversion for a new project.
So I built Fottly, a self-hosted image transformation API, AGPL-3.0, that you run on your own infrastructure. Simple URL params (w_400,h_300,f_webp,q_80) instead of a bloated SDK, plus AI background removal built in, which is usually the one feature that pushes people toward expensive SaaS tools.
If you don't want to host it yourself, Fottly Cloud does it for you, paid, but with a 7-day free trial so you can test it with zero risk before committing.
It's early and I'm building this solo, so genuinely, try it, break it, tell me what's missing. I'll be here all day answering everything.
