Formé

Find the allergen your moisturizer is hiding from you

Skincare labels don't say "almond oil" — they say Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil. If you have a nut allergy, you'd never know. Formé scans any ingredient list and translates 3000+ Latin INCI names into plain English, including allergen warnings shown before anything else. Unlike Yuka or Think Dirty, Formé grades products based on you: your allergens, your ethics, your skin concerns.

Top comment

I built Formé after trying to find a soap that didn't have a coconut derived ingredient because of my fiancée's allergies. I spent probably 20 minutes googling individual ingredients on the whole row of products. The problem isn't that cosmetic labels are deceptive — it's that they use a Latin naming system (INCI) designed for chemists, not consumers. "Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil" is sweet almond oil. "Cocos Nucifera Oil" is coconut. There's no law requiring the common name to appear anywhere on the label. Formé's allergen detection is permanently free — I didn't want to put the core of the app, and a safety feature, behind a paywall. Premium unlocks unlimited scans, full ingredient breakdowns, and a Routine Builder that flags conflicts across multiple products. Everything runs on your device, your scans and allergen profile never leave your phone. If Formé encounters an ingredient it doesn't recognize, you can optionally submit it to help us expand the database. No account required, no data harvested. Would love feedback from anyone with food allergies, eczema, or just strong feelings about what goes on their skin. Happy to answer anything

Who hunted Formé?

Formé was hunted by Tim. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
