BeeBot for AirPods

Your social audio guide to the city

It’s like having that friend who knows everything that’s happening, except it whispers directly into your ears as you walk around. BeeBot gives you a few short updates a day about people, places, and things nearby, emceed by your host, DJ BeeBot. BeeBot turns on automatically when you put your headphones in and stays quiet when you take them off. You can check in with DJ BeeBot to share what you’re doing or what’s happening nearby — BeeBot shares your updates with friends and other users nearby.

It's the resurrection of @MarsBot! But now rebuilt with more AI and social goodness.

Tips on How to Get the Most out of BeeBot:

  • Download the app (iOS only, US only)

  • Sync your address book so we know who you’d want to hear from.

  • Go to your Profile and add some “Keywords” — the more specific the better. Try to add at least 5 of them. (see the screenshot above for inspiration)

  • Add the BeeBot widget to your iPhone lock screen. This makes it super easy to pause/mute messages from the DJ… or to summon the DJ whenever you want. (You add widgets to your iPhone the same way you change wallpapers.)

The lock screen widget is the best way to pause/mute BeeBot.

  • If you have an Apple Watch, add the BeeBot watch complication and use your voice to send status updates. (it’s the fastest way to send updates — I use this multiple times a day)

  • Check in with DJ BeeBot! Tell us what you’re up to … or how you’re feeling … or what you’re thinking. Try doing it a few times a day. Don’t try too hard. Don’t overthink it. Have fun with it.

  • Don’t expect too much! We have this thing tuned to only tell you a few things per day — any more and you’d probably find it annoying! It’s been tricky enough to get the right length, cadence, frequency, and vibe for the DJ messages… never mind getting the content right. What we’ve got today is good enough to share, but there’s a LOT of room for improvement. We still have a LOT of “product editing” to do.
