I built BasicInventory for small businesses that don't want the complexity of an ERP. No cloud setup. No monthly subscription. No servers to install. Just a Windows PC and you're ready to manage your stock.
One of the features I wanted to bring to an inventory app in this price range is AI — but without making it complicated. Bring your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or OpenRouter API key, or use a model that offers a free tier. No additional AI subscription from BasicInventory, no markup, no complicated setup. Just connect it and ask questions about your inventory.
The assistant is read-only, so it can query your stock but can never modify it. AI is completely optional, and the rest of the application works without it.
