Zyrk answers one question: what do we watch tonight? Shake your iPhone and a ball hands you one film from the 1,000 best-rated on TMDB — one, not forty posters. Tap it for the synopsis, director, cast and the services that carry it in your country: subscription, rent or buy. Not tonight? Shake again; a film the ball has shown never comes back, and your Good pick / Nope marks nudge later shakes towards genres you like. Free, no account, no ads. English and Ukrainian, iPhone only.

Hi everyone — I'm Oleksii, an independent developer from Ukraine, and Zyrk is mine. Before our two kids arrived, my wife and I watched a film almost every evening. We routinely spent half an hour choosing one: open one app, read three synopses, open another app, close everything, go to bed. Now film nights are rare, and I did not want to spend them scrolling. So Zyrk does one thing. Shake the phone — or tap the ball, if shaking your phone in public is not your style — and it pulls out one film from the 1,000 best-rated on TMDB: title, year, genre, rating. Open it for the synopsis, the director, the cast and the services that carry it in your country, whether by subscription, rental or purchase. Not tonight? Shake again. A film the ball has already shown never comes back. What it does not do: claim to know your taste. Marking a film "Good pick" or "Nope" tilts later shakes towards genres you seem to enjoy, and that is the whole of the cleverness for now. No feed, no lists, no watchlist, no Swiss Army knife. It is free: no ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no account. Your history stays on the device, and anonymous analytics only run if you agree on first launch — you can switch them off later. English and Ukrainian. iPhone, iOS 17 and up. Two things I would like your opinion on. First: does the "where to watch" block show the right services for your country? Second: how would you make the picks smarter without turning this into yet another app full of lists and filters? Happy to answer anything in the comments today.

Who hunted Zyrk?

Zyrk was hunted by Oleksii Huralnyk. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
