macOS users got the Dynamic Island treatment on the desktop. Windows never did.
So ZenithBar is a small island pinned to the top of the screen. Hover it and it expands: media controls for whatever Windows is playing, your next events, pinned apps and sites, a shelf you can drag files out of, and a clipboard history that remembers text, links, images and colors. Move the pointer away and it's gone. During full-screen games it hides itself entirely.
The part that took longest wasn't the features — it was making it feel like it belongs to Windows instead of sitting on top of it. Getting the hover timing right, making the island not steal focus from what you're typing in, deciding what stays visible when it's idle. Most of my rewrites were about restraint.
Everything stays on your machine. Calendar is read-only Google access, Drive backup is optional and you start it yourself, and nothing needs an account.
One honest note: this build isn't code-signed yet, so Windows will show a SmartScreen "Publisher: Unknown" warning. It's a reputation notice, not a detection — the SHA-256 is published on the site so you can verify what you downloaded. Signing is on the way.
What would you want on an island like this that isn't there yet?
Henry, one thing worth knowing if you haven't already run into it: even after you buy a standard code-signing cert (not EV), SmartScreen doesn't clear instantly, it still has to build up reputation from real downloads over time, so there can be a gap where the warning still shows up even with a valid signature. EV certs skip that reputation-building period but cost a lot more. Worth checking which one you're planning to get so the timeline expectation matches reality for your users.
the SmartScreen honesty upfront is appreciated, but I'd guess that's costing you more installs than the comments here suggest. most people aren't going to go compare a SHA-256 hash against your site, they're going to see "Windows protected your PC" and just close the installer, especially for something that touches clipboard history where trust matters more than usual. do you have any sense yet of how many people bounce right at that screen versus push through to actually try it?
The on-device-only and no-account-required call is exactly right for something that touches clipboard history — routing copied text through any cloud service is a non-starter for most developer workflows. The thing I would want to understand is how it handles clipboard events from apps with custom permission models, like Windows Terminal or sandboxed contexts: that is usually where clipboard managers either miss grabs entirely or add enough latency that you notice it.

That on-device processing with no account required is a really thoughtful choice these days, and the auto-hide during full-screen games shows you actually thought through how people use their machines.

I use a wide screen and several displays, so I have plenty of screen space that could be used better. Having useful information and quick controls around the edges could actually save me a lot of clicking. I really like this one! Congrats on the launch!!
