yxcode
Free local editor. Full remote development on iPad.
A full development workspace for iPad. Edit code locally for free, or connect to Linux, macOS, and Windows over SSH. Run terminals, use Git, browse remote files, and work with VS Code-style extensions — all from your iPad.
I built yxcode because I wanted my iPad to be more than a device for reading code.
The goal was simple: make a real development environment that you can carry anywhere. Local editing is free, and when you need a full Linux, macOS, or Windows environment, you can connect over SSH and keep working with your existing tools and files.
A lot of the work went into making the architecture feel like a real code editor rather than a remote terminal wrapped in a web view.
This is still a work in progress, and I’d really love feedback from developers who actually use an iPad for coding.
What would make yxcode genuinely useful for your workflow?
