Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Youngmin, the maker of yViewer. I built yViewer because I was tired of installing and switching between different apps just to inspect files. A PDF needed one app. A PSD needed another. RAW images, Office documents, archives, 3D models, databases, and large log files all required different tools. I wanted one fast app where I could simply drop a file and immediately see what was inside. That idea started as a universal file viewer, but yViewer has gradually grown into a local workspace for files. Today, it can open more than 50 file extensions, including: PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, HWP, and HWPX PSD, RAW, HEIC, AI, DXF, and common images Video, audio, and external subtitle files ZIP, 7Z, TAR, and other archives OBJ, STL, GLB, FBX, and other 3D models SQLite, HDF5, CSV, JSON, source code, and large logs It also includes features such as: Standard PDF annotations that are saved back into the actual PDF PSD and PSB layer browsing Image conversion and audio trimming Search inside files and across entire folders Fast, virtualized rendering for large text, CSV, and XLSX files Windows Explorer Quick Look with the Space key Hierarchical tags and ordered file lists An interactive knowledge graph for exploring file relationships Everything is designed to work locally. Your files do not need to be uploaded to a cloud service. The newest release, v0.8.0, is an important step for yViewer. It expands the app from a universal viewer into a tool for organizing and navigating a personal file library through tags, playlists, folder grids, and a visual knowledge graph. I’d love to hear from designers, developers, researchers, photographers, and anyone who regularly works with many different file formats. What file format or workflow should I improve next? Thank you for checking out yViewer!
