Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I'm the solo maker of YOMI.
YOMI is a daily game for learning Japanese hiragana, in the spirit of
Wordle: one new word a day, six tries, and a spoiler-free result to share.
Why I built it: most beginner apps are heavy. I wanted the Wordle loop —
~60 seconds, no login, come back tomorrow — pointed at Japanese. A few
things I focused on:
• The keyboard is the Japanese 五十音 (fifty-sounds) chart with romaji
labels, since learners don't have a Japanese IME. Dakuten (か→が) and
small kana (や→ゃ) get their own keys — using the chart is itself practice.
• New players get a 10-word warm-up before the once-a-day rhythm starts.
• After you solve, you get the reading, meaning, and an example sentence.
It's a free PWA (installable, works offline), no account, no ads. ~3,000
words across 10 difficulty "years," sourced from JMdict.
I'd love feedback — especially from Japanese speakers and learners — on word
choice and the keyboard UX. What would make you come back every day? 🙏

Who hunted YOMI?
YOMI was hunted by taki. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
