Journal without typing. Open the app and yap about your day. It's that simple. The app tidies it up and keeps track of your mood, habits, to-dos and the small things you mention about your friends and family. Each day is also summarised, making going back in time easy. Memos, transcripts, notes all local on your device. Export at any time.
Hey Product Hunt, I’m Martin!
I built Yap because I like the idea of keeping a journal much more than I like sitting down to write one. At 11pm on a Thursday it just feels like homework. But yapping about the day doesn’t.
It's quite simple. You hold the button, say what happened and let go. Yap saves your memo but also categoriese key points: short note summarising your day, your mood, to-dos, habits and details about your friends&family so you don't forget!
It's all on your phone, no accounts or ads. You own all of your data which can be exported at any time. It's using local LLMs (your data is kept private) and all the data is saved locally (unless you want to back it up).
The first 100 people to try Yap keep it completely free forever.
I tried it today and it doesn't work. I talked into the app for 15 minutes straight and while everything was being recorded on screen, there were just two options out of that dictation: either discard or keep talking. There was no way to go back and access those notes Also twice it said some error occurred and nothing got stored saved and all almost all of the times I couldn't come back to the calendar and click on today's date where I recorded those notes and there were no notes to be found like I could just could not see or find or access my recordings. So I happen to be the 87th member who downloaded the app and signed up but I have deleted it unfortunately, it needs improvement and it happens to be at a very preliminary stage right now, not ready to be pushed out into the world.
I like this. Also, I like that there's no streak counters. I've always found journaling most valuable when I don't force myself to do it, and just choose to when I'm in the mood.
Also, my journals are packed during less busy times in my life and sparse during busy times, so I like the core concept here.
Super cool 🚀 love the design and cleanness. I journal pretty much daily and the voice parts feels really natural for this.
