Yak
SIP softphone with on-device AI call transcription
Yak Phone: Enterprise-grade SIP phone with on‑device AI. Native iOS app with CallKit, HD video, push notifications – plus AI that transcribes and summarizes your calls in real time, right on your device. No privacy worries.
I built YakPhone because every SIP app I tried either looked like it was made in 2009 or required sending my calls through someone else's cloud.
The thing I'm most proud of: all AI runs on your device. Whisper transcribes your calls locally. The LLM chat (llama.cpp) never phones home. Your conversations stay yours.
A few things that were fun to build:
Wrapping a C-based SIP stack (baresip) cleanly into a modern SwiftUI app with CallKit Getting Whisper + llama.cpp running efficiently on iPhone — real-time transcription without killing the battery The draggable PiP video window that lets you swap local/remote views mid-call Would love feedback from the community — especially from anyone running Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, or 3CX who wants to test it against their own server.
Happy to answer any technical questions! 🙏
