I built Y2K Cam because I missed the feeling of old digicams, disposable cameras, VHS clips, and photos that felt a little imperfect in a good way.
At first, I thought I was making a retro filter camera. But while building it, I realized the feeling was not only about colors or effects. It was also about the way you shoot: limited rolls, date stamps, short clips, waiting for photos to develop, and small camera details that make moments feel more personal.
So Y2K Cam became more of a nostalgic camera experience than a simple filter app.
It includes retro photo and video looks, real-time previews, date/custom stamps, camera-style OSD details, film rolls, daily movies from short clips, and a “develop tomorrow morning” feature.

The date stamps and OSD details nailed that early 2000s digicam vibe perfectly, way more authentic than most filter apps.
the date stamp option and the little red-eye flash icon on screen make it feel weirdly real, like i dug out my old olympus. tried it on my cat and the grainy vibe actually makes a blurry phone pic look intentional.
