Hi! I'm the maker. We built X2Chat around one rule: the server should never be able to read anything you send, and it should not need your phone number to know who you are. Today that means on-device keys, a fresh AES key for every message wrapped per device, and encrypted call frames (WebRTC Insertable Streams for video, our own QUIC/Opus transport for 1:1 audio).
Being upfront: no forward secrecy yet, no external audit, closed source for now — the security page lists all of it: x2chat.com/security. I'd love feedback on what to prioritise.
