I built WritersLock because I kept opening my phone to journal and closing it 40 minutes later having written nothing and watched a lot of Reels.
The idea is simple. WritersLock locks the apps that distract you (Instagram, TikTok, X, whatever your poison is) and they stay locked until you write today's entry. Finish writing, apps unlock. Skip it, they stay shut.
It turns the thing stealing your writing time into the thing that reminds you to write. No streaks to guilt-trip you, no willpower required. You just can't get to the scroll until the words are down.
A few things I care about:
- It runs fully on-device. Your entries never leave your phone.
- No IDFA tracking, no ATT prompt, no ad SDKs.
- The writing prompt is short. Two minutes counts. The point is showing up daily, not writing an essay.
