Most side projects fail quietly: months of building, then nobody pays. Would you pay? shows your startup to real people who swipe right only if they'd pay for it. You see the % who'd pay, who they are, and who clicked through. Free.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I've launched a lot of side projects (AI2SQL, AI2image, CrewClaw and more). The painful pattern was always the same: months of building, a launch, and then silence. Nice comments told me nothing about whether anyone would actually pay.
So I built Would you pay?. It asks one question per startup: would you pay for this? Swipe right if yes, left if not. It's a harder yes than a like, and that's the point.
For makers:
• Add your startup with just your URL, we read your site and build the card
• After 10 swipes you see the % of people who'd pay
• You also see who they are (developers, founders or marketers) and how many clicked through to your site
I put my own products in first. The best one got 38%, some landed around 20%. Painful, but far more useful than guessing.
In the first day, 6 makers added their startups and 27 people swiped 172 times.
I'd love your honest take: what would make this data more useful to you? One idea from a Reddit comment is asking "how much?" after a right swipe.
Cool idea! I think without some focus on types of ideas it's a lot to ask of people, and is very tech focused. I think each card needs a bit more information too, it's very hard to know from a one-liner whether something is a good idea or not. Still, there were a few in there that caught my attention! Well done on the launch.
I'm so happy I came across this today! I have found myself being caught in the trap of continuously developing enhancements to ensure real value for a paid tier of my app, this will give me some valuable clarity on that. I will definitely give it a try and look forward to the feedback I get from it as I prepare for my first product hunt launch
How do you decide which people see a particular startup idea? Is it based on their interests or the type of product?
Love the idea. Validating whether people would actually pay before spending months building is such a simple but valuable concept. Congrats on the launch! 🚀
@mustafaergisi Congrats on the launch, Mustafa! 🎉 Swiping right only if you'd actually pay is a smart, honest way to validate ideas. Wishing you a great launch day!
genuinely curious how you handle the gap between a swipe and a wallet. people are famously generous with "yes I'd pay for that" when there's no card on the line, it's a big part of why founders get burned chasing validation that never converts. do you push anyone past the swipe to an actual pre-order or waitlist deposit, or is the signal here meant to be directional only, more people to keep talking to rather than a real demand number?
Congrats on the launch! What's the benefit for the target audience who are swiping? I work with early-stage startups and this is such a fun way to see initial interests.
Would you run your next idea through a quick validation tool like this before writing a single line of code?
