Most AI tools stay at file level. They only see what is open, so every session starts with re-explaining your stack, architecture, and conventions. Workspai is the AI workspace for backend teams inside VS Code. It reads your project structure, installed modules, git changes, and team memory, then carries that context into every AI prompt automatically. No extra subscription required — it works with your existing Copilot.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm one of the founders. Thanks for taking a look at Workspai.
The core problem we kept running into: AI tools are stateless. Every conversation starts from zero context, which means you spend time explaining your project before you can ask the actual question.
We built Workspai to fix that at the source. The VS Code extension scans your backend workspace — project structure, installed modules, git changes, and any conventions you've written down — and injects all of it into the AI system prompt before you type anything.
The result: AI that answers "where should I add this endpoint?" with your actual folder paths, not generic examples.
A few things that might surprise you:
- It detects DDD vs standard FastAPI layout automatically (checks for src/app/domain)
- The workspace memory feature lets you write team conventions once — the AI always knows them
- It uses the VS Code Language Model API, so it works with Copilot — no new subscription needed
Happy to answer anything about how the context builder works, the RapidKit platform underneath, or the roadmap.
And if you find a bug or something behaves unexpectedly — please comment here or open an issue on GitHub. We're actively iterating.
Thanks for all the discussion over the past few days — really useful to hear where the context gap hits hardest.
If you install Workspai today, the fastest way to see it work: open a backend project, hit @workspai /ask in the VS Code Chat panel, and ask anything about your project structure.
Happy to answer questions here all day.
