Hello all! I built Workshop to solve for something:
I'm a maker across several disciplines and have noticed a problem. If I want to make my portfolio, I can make a personal website ... but that's its own corner of the internet. I can make my portfolio on Instagram or somewhere else, but that work is then used to train AI models and gets lost in the noise of a general social media platform. If I want to find collaborators, there isn't a central location to do this ... if I join a group on Facebook, I'm either subjected to spam or subjective moderation and gatekeeping. If I post onto Reddit, the same thing.
I've found that there isn't a central platform where I can 1) post my work as a portfolio, 2) find collaborators on platform (who can browse my portfolio), 3) write blog posts about the work I've made, and 4) have all of this interoperate on-platform in a way where I can see the lineage of what I've worked on, as well as the final product.
I built Workshop so that I could create a portfolio and find collaborators. This all happens on one place that doesn't have gatekeepers. You are allowed to work as much as you want and are only limited by your ambition.
Workshop is a platform where serious people can get to work, showcase their work, and find collaborators to continue that work. It's for independent creators or people who want to create together. Sometimes you want to work alone, sometimes you want feedback, sometimes you want to work on a team. It's helpful if this can all happen on one platform, and that's exactly what Workshop is.
