Hello Product Hunt community! 👋I’m the creator of Calorco, and I built this app out of pure frustration and spite towards mainstream fitness apps. I was tired of seeing basic features—like barcode scanning or macro breakdowns—locked behind steep $80/year paywalls, all while my screen was bloated with ads and tracking scripts. Tracking my nutrition drastically improved my life and health, and I firmly believe that taking care of your body shouldn't come with a subscription fee. So, I decided to build a clean, powerful alternative. Here is why Calorco is different:
100% Free & Ad-free:
No paywalls, no hidden tiers, no ads.
No Signups/Accounts: Just open the link, add it to your Home Screen, and you are ready to go.
Privacy & Local-First: All your data is stored securely on your device using IndexedDB, not on a third-party server.
Bring Your Own AI: Calorco has built-in AI meal recognition and weekly coaching. It works out-of-the-box on my shared free tokens, but you can plug in your own free Gemini API key (or Claude/GPT) for unlimited, private tracking.
No streak if you miss a day.
Full Feature Set: Barcode scanning (Open Food Facts), water tracking, workout calorie adjustment, and automatic Google Drive or GitHub Gist backups.
The app is fully responsive and optimized as a PWA, meaning it works flawlessly offline and behaves like a native app once saved to your phone.
There is a completely optional "Buy Me a Coffee" button inside if you'd like to support my work, but the app is fully functional for everyone.
