Hey everyone 👋 I’m Allen, the solo developer behind WordNet Explorer. I first built it because I wanted a clear, visual way to inspect WordNet while working on NLP projects. Most tools hand you a similarity score without showing which senses were matched or how the words connect in the hierarchy. This update adds something I kept wondering about: what happens when you compare WordNet’s hand-built hierarchy with modern embeddings, which learn from how words are actually used? The Similarity tool now shows both scores side by side, with a plain-English verdict on whether they agree: car / automobile: both views agree, same meaning and same usage coffee / cup: different kinds of things in WordNet, but embeddings score them much higher because they appear together constantly hot / cold: WordNet flags them as opposites, while embeddings often rate antonyms as similar
