Hey Product Hunt, I'm Brad. I've been building and running Whyp on my own since 2021.
It started because as a music producer, I found sharing audio with others online frustrating - I wanted uploading, sharing and getting feedback to be fast and easy, so I built something that me and my friends would actually use.
It's evolved over the years but the core premise remains - you upload a file and get a link that's unlisted by default. Whoever you send it to opens it in their browser - no ads, no app, no sign-in wall - and leaves comments pinned to timestamps on the waveform, and you get notified by email. When you've made changes, you replace the audio on the same track; the link keeps working, and you can optionally create a new version so you and your listeners can go back and see what changed.
I've always been close with the Whyp community - chatting, answering questions and responding to feature requests. Several users asked for embeds, so I built them for tracks and collections (with customization & presets), and that became a big part of the product. Embeds use player.js and oEmbed, meaning they work on your website, and in Notion, Medium, Patreon, Canva and Confluence (and WordPress, with a free plugin).
What it deliberately doesn't have: a feed, an algorithm, discovery search, ads, or AI training on your audio. Analytics - plays, playback time, downloads, listener locations - are on every plan, free included.
Today it's used by a wide range of creatives and professionals. Voice actors sending reads to clients, bands passing mixes around, podcasters reviewing episodes, churches posting sermons and teachers posting (and reviewing) educational content. Free covers 10 tracks; Pro is $10/month for unlimited tracks, five-hour uploads, lossless FLAC and bulk/FTP upload.

the version history thing is smart - replacing the file on the same link instead of forcing a new URL every time you re-render a mix means the feedback thread doesn't fragment. when someone leaves a timestamped comment on version 1 and you push version 2 with a different arrangement, does the old comment stay pinned to the same timestamp on the new waveform or does it just get orphaned
