So I built What to Watch to solve a problem I had myself — too many streaming platforms, no single place to track what I'm watching, and way too much time wasted deciding what to put on next.
The app has four main parts:
Watching — your personal library. Movies and series you're tracking, with status (watching, completed, dropped) and episode-level progress for series.
Schedule — a calendar of upcoming releases pulled from your library. So if you're following a series, you see exactly when the next episode drops.
Discover — browse and search titles across everything. There's also an AI search where you just describe what you want in plain language and it figures it out.
For Tonight — an AI picker that suggests what to watch based on your mood, genre, format, and what you haven't seen yet.
A browser extension connects to the app and auto-syncs your playback — so your progress updates while you watch without you touching anything.
How to get started:
1) Sign up at whattowatch.fyi
2) Install the browser extension and connect it to your account
3) Start watching — the app tracks everything from there

Who hunted What To Watch?
What To Watch was hunted by Yaroslav Shevchenko. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
