Hey Product Hunt! I’m Austin, founder of Serbyte.
I built What The Google Font because I kept running into the same problem while designing and building websites: I’d have a screenshot, logo, or client reference, but no way to find a close Google Font alternative from the image.
Most font identifiers try to name the exact font, which is useful, but they often point to paid or commercial typefaces. I wanted something more practical: upload an image, crop the text, and get the closest free Google Font you can actually use in a website or design project.
The tool currently supports image uploads, text cropping, confidence scoring, similar font alternatives, live previews, and direct font downloads.

As a designer, I often need to match a font that's already been converted to outlines - so the source is gone and all I have is the shape. This is exactly the tool for that moment. Two things I'd love to see: SVG upload support, and multilingual matching beyond Latin characters. Both would make this genuinely indispensable
