👋 Hey Product Hunters! I’m Axel, and I’m thrilled to introduce Wayther — my new iPhone app designed to keep you safe, help you minimize delays and save you money on your road trips by making you avoid bad and dangerous weather. My little app was recently featured in TechCrunch, AppAdvice and Gear Patrol. Wayther was born out of my experience working on another app, a digital boating log book. Weather plays a crucial role in boating, so I began integrating weather forecasts into trip planning. Coincidentally, while developing this feature, I had to drive a few hundred miles and wanted to dodge bad weather. I found myself constantly switching between Apple Maps and Apple Weather, manually checking conditions along my route. That’s when it hit me: there should be an app that provides weather forecasts specifically for road trips. Wayther gives you: 🌦️ Accurate real-time weather forecast along your route 📆 Up to 10 days in advance (choose departure or arrival date and time) 🌍 Anywhere in the world You can compare different routes and adjust your departure or arrival times to find the safest, most enjoyable window for your trip. It’s a powerful tool to avoid dangerous weather and unexpected delays by planning ahead with precise forecasts. The app is perfect not just for car drivers, but also for motorcyclists, RVers, truckers, bus drivers, and even bikers. Whether you need to dodge high winds, bad weather, or simply plan the best time to hit the road, Wayther has you covered. The app is free to download, and your first three trips are on completely free — no trial required. If you love the app and want unlimited trips, you can choose between a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription, depending on how often you are on the road. To celebrate this launch, I’m offering 40% off your first year with the code PH40, available until September 5th, 2024. Click here to redeem this offer. Download Wayther today, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions—drop a comment below! This is the first version of the app, and I have many features planned. But I wanted to get it out there to see what people like, what they want, and how they use it 🙂. Thank you so much for your support! 🙏 🚀

Hey Axel, stumbled upon your app through some online buzz and gave it a shot, tbh while the weather tracking is cool, switching between planned routes seems kind of wonky, maybe it's just me but do you think adding a more intuitive map interface would help users plan better? Also curious if you have any plans to integrate with other navigation apps for a more seamless experience

This is kinda neat but isn't it just another weather app? I'm curious, will you add features to integrate with other navigation apps directly so we don't have to switch back and forth all the time? Also, the subscription model, what guarantees do we have that the forecasts will stay accurate enough long-term for it to be worth it?

Wayther Plan your trips wisely, avoid delays, and save money by using this convenient and accurate real-time weather information. This is an indispensable app for safe and comfortable road trips!

Hey Axel, congrats on the launch, this is definitely a game-changer for road trips, the fact that it can predict weather along different routes is super helpful for planning and safety, though I wonder if expanding to other platforms beyond iPhone might help reach more users, great start though!

While the idea of having a weather forecast app specifically for road trips seems innovative, I'm wondering how accurate the info will be, especially in remote areas where data is often lacking, also, it might be a good idea to include a traffic forecast feature or show where there's likely to be heavy traffic due to weather issues, feels like more could be done to differentiate it from existing apps, any plans to integrate such features?

Interesting idea but yet another subscription-based app, it's like paying rent for weather updates, wondering if it'll actually save enough time and money to be worth it 🤔

Axel, love the idea, having accurate weather updates and planning tools is super helpful for making trips safer and smoother, maybe also consider adding a feature that gives real-time traffic updates to make the app even more useful 👍

Stumbled upon this app while browsing TechCrunch, the concept is cool but honestly are there not already similar apps like Storm Radar or MyRadar doing the same thing? I mean, is there really a need for another weather app, it feels too niche, also some bugs on route comparisons, hope those get patched soon

Why create yet another weather app, don't we have enough already, maybe focus on adding more unique features like traffic conditions or integrating it with more map services, just a thought

Hey Axel, congrats on the app launch, it's gonna be super helpful for road trips, reminds me of Waze but with a weather twist, it'd be cool to have feature that alerts for unexpected hazards like accidents or road closures, any plans for an Android version?

Hey Axel congrats on the new app launch, the idea of having accurate weather forecasts for road trips is super helpful especially for long drives and avoiding bad weather, I think it's gonna be really useful for a lot of people, maybe adding user reviews on routes could make it even better

This app seems like a great idea but I gotta say I'm worried about relying too much on tech for road safety, what if the forecasts are off or it has some glitches, I'm all for innovation but I'll keep an old-school weather radio and maps just in case.

Axel your app seems pretty redundant, can't people just use Google Maps and check the weather themselves, what's the real value here, and since you talk about future features, anything in there that's worth waiting for

Fantastic app with a beautiful UI! I’m really impressed with how well it works all over the globe 🌏 Congrats on your launch Axel!

I always bookmark 3-4 cities in the weather app on my way from Munich to Zagreb. I always needed an app like this one. Great job Axel, I'm looking forward to trying it!
