VWFNDR™ + MBL is a free Android camera built around real photographic capture: unprocessed Bayer RAW DNG and JPEG simultaneously, variable aspect ratios, priority modes, manual controls on a single screen, and C2PA Content Credentials embedded at capture, a tamper-evident proof that every photo was taken by a real camera, not generated or constructed.

Hi Product Hunt! This is Lucie (https://lihbr.com) and Alvaro (https://nuevo.tokyo), from the team at VWFNDR™ (https://www.vwfndr.camera), a project we started in 2023 with the goal to reconnect photography with intention, authorship, and real capture. A camera you always carry should work like a camera. Not as a computational filter, not as an AI image generator, but as a tool for intentional photography. Building that camera, in hardware, takes time. MBL is the first step: a software foundation that embeds the same photographic principles VWFNDR™ plans to bring to hardware, made available now for everyone. Every photo captured with MBL carries proof that it was taken by a real camera, not generated or constructed. That proof travels inside the file itself: a tamper-evident record, built on the open Content Credentials standard from C2PA, that verifies where an image came from, how it was made, and whether it has been altered. While getting there was challenging, we're proud to be the fourth company in the world to achieve C2PA Level 2 conformance, and the second, after Google, to support it for DNG. More importantly, we're happy to offer it for free to everyone, no ads, no tracking, no account. More is coming. We'll share what's next in Q4. In the meantime, we'd love to hear how you shoot with it.

Comment highlights

MBL not only becomes a critical step forward in our camera software design, but also a very important step in photo taking. Photography spent two centuries trying to capture reality more truthfully. Today, with AI imagery and increasingly processed phone cameras, that relationship is changing.

MBL reintroduces photography as a direct, intentional act of capture in a time dominated by AI and heavy computational processing. And we are very excited for everyone to own it.
