Hey Product Hunt! 👋 Varun here, the maker of Vrati.
The name comes from Sanskrit — vrata meaning "a vow" or "a sacred commitment." Same ancient root as the English word "vow." I liked the idea that every time you tap that circle, you're keeping a small vow to yourself. That's the whole philosophy of the app in one word.
I built this because I couldn't find a habit app that felt calm. Every app I tried had streaks that guilted me, badges I didn't care about, and a paywall behind every useful feature. I wanted something that felt like a quiet notebook — not a game I had to keep up with.
So I built Vrati. It's my second iOS app ever (I'm not a professional developer — I learn by building things I actually want to use).
The core is dead simple: add a habit, tap a circle each day, see your history. That's it. The one thing I added beyond the basics is a mountain path — your check-ins and focus sessions move a little figure forward toward Foundation, Discipline, and Mastery. It resets every month. I find it quietly motivating without being annoying.
It's completely free, no ads, no paywall. I just wanted to ship something real and see if others find it useful.
