Hey PH, I’m Kanishk.
I already had a NordVPN subscription. I wanted a few apps to use it while my browser, calls, and everything else kept their normal connection. But Nord’s Mac app didn’t offer split tunnelling.
Switching VPN providers just to get that feature felt unnecessary. I wanted to choose my VPN provider and how my apps connected independently.
There’s another distinction here: some split-tunnelling implementations put everything on the VPN and let you exclude apps. I wanted to select only the apps that should use it, without maintaining an exclusion list for everything else.
So I built VPNonly.
It lives in your Mac’s menu bar. Connect with NordVPN or import a WireGuard configuration from another provider, then choose which apps use that connection. Everything else keeps its normal route.
The privileged engine is open source, and I’ve written up the routing problem we ran into and how it was fixed.
It’s $19 once for two Macs, using your existing VPN service. 🫶
