Hold a hotkey, talk, release, and your words get typed straight into whatever app has focus. Speech-to-text runs fully offline on your machine (faster-whisper), so there's no account, no cloud, and no per-minute cost. Free and open source (MIT), with an optional one-time Pro unlock for bigger models and text snippets.

Top comment

Hey Product Hunt, maker here. I built VoxScribe because every dictation tool I tried either needed an internet connection, wanted a subscription, or handled my Bluetooth headset badly. Wanted something that just worked locally and typed directly into whatever I was doing, no clipboard, no cloud. It's fully open source (MIT), Whisper runs on your own machine, and the core app is free. There's an optional $14 one-time Pro unlock for bigger models and text snippets, but that's not required for the main thing to work. Genuinely want to know what breaks for you, especially with less common mics or setups since that's where most of the real bugs have come from so far. Happy to answer anything about how it works under the hood too.

VoxScribe was hunted by Ahmed Ibrahim. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
