Hey Product Hunt!
I am building Voktty because VS Code has become too bloated and resource-heavy for the everyday workflows of DevOps engineers and terminal-first developers. I wanted a fast, focused, and terminal-first workspace that includes all the tools I actually need every day without the unnecessary overhead.
Voktty started as an independent hard fork of Terax (originally created by Crynta). From there, I have been building and evolving it into the AI-native workspace I always wanted: lightweight (~10MB), blazing fast, and deeply integrated with modern AI tooling.
What Voktty brings to the table:
GPU-accelerated WebGL terminal with split-pane multiplexing and command-aware blocks
Native Model Context Protocol (MCP) client supporting local offline models (Ollama, LM Studio) and cloud APIs (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini)
Integrated CodeMirror 6 editor, opt-in LSP, and DAP debugging
First-class environment support for SSH workspaces, visual tunnels, WSL, and Docker
End-to-end encrypted terminal sharing without requiring an account
100% privacy-first: zero telemetry and OS keychain credential storage
A quick note on platform security warnings:
Because this is an independent, community-driven open-source project in its preview stage, I don't have paid Apple Developer or Microsoft EV code-signing certificates yet. Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper may display an unverified developer warning when running the installer. The source code is 100% open on GitHub, and official certificates will be added as the project grows.
Help me build it!
Voktty is fully open-source under Apache-2.0, and I would love the community to join this journey. Whether you write Rust, React, or TypeScript, or just want to test, report bugs, and share your terminal workflow ideas—collaborators, contributors, and feedback are warmly welcome.
